River police recovered the body of former Bangladesh Air Force flight lieutenant KM Tahsif Souri from the Turag River near Rajabari Ghat in Uttarkhan, Dhaka. Police said the preliminary inquest found no visible external injury or wound on his body.

According to river police, the national emergency service 999 received a report at around 4:30 pm on Wednesday, October 28, that a body was floating in the river. A team from the Tongi River Police Outpost went to the location and recovered it.

The man's identity could not be established immediately. He was wearing white pyjamas and a black shirt. Police found a wristwatch and an iPhone with him, and the phone later helped investigators confirm his identity.

Preliminary inquest information also referred to signs of bleeding from the nose. However, neither the absence of a visible external injury nor nasal bleeding can by itself establish a cause of death. Officials said a reliable conclusion would require the post-mortem and any necessary forensic examinations.

After the initial legal procedures, the body was sent to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka for post-mortem examination. Police said the cause of death was not immediately known and the medical findings would be important for the next stage of the investigation.

Tahsif Souri lived with his family in Sector 18 of Uttara. Information available to police indicates that he had been missing since Tuesday night. His relatives were informed after the body was identified.

A widely discussed video from 2024 had previously brought the former air force officer's name into media and social-media conversations. Police have not, however, announced any evidence linking that discussion to his death. Investigators have cautioned against speculating about the manner of death or responsibility before the inquiry is completed.
