The workers of various garment factories have been protesting by blocking the Azampur road in the capital's Uttara for the second day demanding salary hike.

On Thursday (October 15) at around 10 am, they started protesting on the road.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttara Purba Police Station Morshed Alam said that traffic on the road is moving slowly.

Due to the blockade, traffic on the road is slow. The agitating workers claim that it has become difficult to run a household on the current salary due to the increase in the prices of daily necessities, housing rent, medical and education expenses of children.

They have started a movement to demand salary increase in line with the cost of living.

We are continuing to negotiate with the agitating workers to keep the situation peaceful. Law and order forces are ready to avoid any untoward situation.
