Ulipur (Kurigram) Representative:Residents have complained that the quality of civic services has not reached the desired level despite the increase in collection of taxes and various fees in Ulipur municipality. On September 17, the situation of several areas of the city was visited and it was known about the long-term suffering of roads, waste management, drains and traffic.

The residents of the city complain that the pitch of some roads has risen and small holes have been formed. When it rains, water accumulates in these pits, making it difficult to move. They also said that some development works were started three to four years ago but have not been completed.

The accumulation of garbage in various parts of the city, besides causing bad smell, also increases the security risk of broken or uncovered manholes. Traders and pedestrians say that the unplanned stopping of vehicles on the main road and the removal of waste from the market during peak hours are also increasing the suffering.

The municipal authorities have reportedly given a deadline to the contractors to complete the ongoing work. Residents have demanded sector-wise disclosure of tax and fee revenue, regular waste collection schedules and speedy covering of dangerous manholes.
