Prolonged power disruptions affected daily life across Kurigram on 25 and 26 May 2026. Roumari and Rajibpur reportedly remained without electricity for nearly 30 hours, while residents in Ulipur also complained of lengthy outages.

Mobile networks and internet services weakened in many areas. Battery-powered rickshaws could not be charged, shops remained dark and students struggled to study.

A college student in Ulipur said even mildly cloudy weather was followed by hours without power. Traders in Roumari and Rajibpur also reported lost business ahead of Eid.

Rural electricity officials said storms often bring trees down on power lines and supplies may be suspended to prevent accidents. Residents called for better vegetation management, backup links and faster repair capacity.
