Ulipur (Kurigram) Representative:Farmers waiting for fertilizer at the new Anantapur market of Ulipur's Hatia union blocked the Kurigram-Chilmari regional road around 11:30 am on September 22. After the traffic was disrupted for about one and a half hours, the upazila administration, police and agriculture department officials reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

According to local farmers, they have been queuing up since morning to get fertilizer at the designated centre. As the dealer's men did not turn up on time, the waiting farmers grew angry. At one stage, some protested by burning tires on the road.

According to the management authority of the distribution center, the workers were not able to handle the situation due to the pressure of the farmers. Upazila Agriculture Officer. Shahidul Islam said, with the help of administration and police, fertilizer has been distributed among the farmers.

According to Upazila Nirbahi officer ATM Arif, the distribution was supposed to start at 8 am. The delay caused protests but the proceedings started in the presence of officials and later the situation normalized. Farmers demanded advance listing, fixed timings and visible monitoring in future.
