Ulipur (Kurigram) Representative:The erosion of the Teesta river has increased the anxiety of the riverside people of Ulipur's Daldalia, Thetrai, Gunaigach and Bajra Unions. Somewhere arable land and plants are moving into rivers, some where families are preparing to move.

Chapararpar Hajipara, Uchigram, Bosniapara, Munsipara, Karpura, Thutapaikar, Gokaipiar, Shekhartek, Paschim Bajra and Char Bajra are prone to erosion in many areas. Many of the victims are taking shelter in the land of relatives or others. Livelihood and children's education are also becoming uncertain.

Rakibul Hasan, executive engineer of the Kurigram office of the Water Development Board, said that geo bags have been sent to the affected areas and work is underway to prevent erosion. He said to supply more Jio bags if required.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer ATM Arif said that if the displaced families apply, priority will be given to resettlement on government land. Distribution of dry food and rice is also going on. Locals want urgent works as well as a clear timetable for sustainable riparian protection and rehabilitation.
